Man arrested on 2 felonies for allegedly burglarizing businesses

Nashua police charged a New Hampshire resident with a pair of burglaries that they say he committed in June and July. The police did not reveal the details of the alleged felonies and the press reports do not say what evidence the police have to implicate the suspect in the crimes. It is unclear whether there were outstanding warrants out on the man prior to his arrest recently by authorities.

The arrest took place after the 30-year-old man was allegedly involved in a report of suspicious activity on Quail Run Road on Nov. 2 at about 11 a.m. When the officer arrived at the scene of the alleged activity, there was apparently nothing found. A short time later, however, the officer allegedly observed the wanted suspect on foot in the nearby woods.

The suspect allegedly fled through the woods while the officer was trying to make contact with him. The officer overtook the suspect and took him into custody. He was being held on $250,000 bail pending his arraignment on the charges.

Despite the reports of suspicious activity on Nov. 2, the suspect was arrested only on charges regarding the events in June and July. The police say that he burglarized two south end businesses at those times. The details of the events and the strength of the evidence against the accused will have to wait until his court appearances.

The charges involved felony theft and felony burglary under New Hampshire law. If there is sufficient evidence to convict, the felonies charged are serious enough to entail significant prison sentences. In a case of overwhelming evidence against an accused, plea bargaining will generally be in order. If the suspect has no prior offenses, plea bargaining by experienced criminal defense counsel may result in an outcome that does not include a severe sentence of imprisonment.
