Drug charges: Deceased infant's parents now face homicide charges

Emergency workers from Concord Fire and Rescue in New Hampshire, along with police, responded to an address in Penacook last August to investigate a report regarding an unresponsive infant found in a trailer. Paramedics rendered emergency care and rushed the baby to a hospital where the 2-month-old boy was declared dead. Following an extensive investigation, the parents of the deceased boy -- who had previously faced drug charges -- were recently arrested on charges of negligent homicide and manslaughter.

As part of the original investigation, detectives say they found evidence indicating that the parents -- the 25-year-old father and the 21-year-old mother -- were both distributing and using methamphetamine. This allegedly occurred from the camper where the couple lived with two small children. Both were then arrested, and they were indicted for methamphetamine possession and possession with intent to distribute meth.

During further investigations, medical experts concluded that the deceased infant had ingested methamphetamine. Investigators claim this contributed to the death of the child. According to police, the investigation continues.

The most logical step for New Hampshire residents who are facing drug charges might be to secure the services of an experienced criminal defense attorney. Accused individuals will remain innocent before the criminal court until -- and only if -- prosecutors can prove them guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. The defense lawyer will likely focus the initial part of the defense on the charge details along with the evidence prosecutors intend to offer in court to support each of the accusations.
