Shortly before 3 a.m. on a recent Monday morning, police in Nashua received a call reporting that someone was moving about on the roof of a residence. When law enforcement arrived to investigate, they said the man sought refuge inside the house. After searching the premises, the man was located and arrested, and he is likely now considering his criminal defense options.
Police claim to have found the man in possession of marijuana, along with several allegedly stolen items that officers say belonged to Walgreens. He now faces two counts of receiving stolen property -- Class B felonies in New Hampshire, based upon the apparent fact that he had two prior theft convictions on his criminal record. Other charges include controlled substance possession, resisting arrest and/or detention and criminal trespassing.
The accused man was arraigned the following day, at which time his cash/surety bail was set at $10,000. He will be back in court at the end of January to attend the probable cause hearing. At that time, it will be to his advantage to have an experienced criminal defense attorney in his corner.
The penalties and damages that can come with a conviction on criminal charges can be severe, and accused individuals will naturally do whatever is reasonably necessary to prevent a conviction. The most logical step to take after an arrest is to retain the services of a seasoned criminal defense attorney that can use his or her skills and experience to fight the charges. A New Hampshire lawyer can build a case that offers the defendant the best chance of suffering the minimum harm to his or her future.
