Drug charges: Teacher released on bond after felony charge

Facing felony charges can have an enormous impact on the personal and professional lives of teachers in New Hampshire and elsewhere. When the charges are drug-related, the accused individuals will likely need skilled legal representation without delay. A 54-year-old Keene High School teacher is currently on a personal recognizance bond after an arrest on a charge of falsifying physical evidence in an alleged attempt to avoid drug charges.

Reportedly, an investigation was launched by Keene police after receiving information about a teacher who was allegedly using drugs while she was on duty at the school. The witnesses described seeing drug paraphernalia along with some white powder in a small bag. Police interviewed the accused teacher, and she gave consent for her purse to be searched. It is alleged that she created the impression that the purse was in her car.

Police officers claim that this was a diversion because the purse was actually in her classroom. They allege that she used this time to text somebody else to remove the purse from the classroom. After checking surveillance footage and executing a warrant to search her mobile phone records, an arrest warrant was obtained.

With the guidance and support of an experienced New Hampshire criminal defense attorney, this woman may be able to limit the consequences of the charges against her. The attorney can advocate on her behalf and challenge the evidence presented by the prosecution. While the stigma of felony charges may always remain part of this teacher's life, a seasoned lawyer may be able to navigate a successful outcome and limit the possibility of felony drug charges being added to the existing accusations.
