Teacher in New Hampshire takes deal to have charges dropped

A teacher from Pinkerton was accused of inappropriately touching one of his students, and the case is just now going to court. The teacher has entered an opening guilty plea. This happened in the 10th Circuit Court, and the guilty plea is for both counts, which are for simple assault.

The student was just 15 years old at the time. The teacher is 62.

According to the reports from the case, the man is accused of touching the young girl's thigh after school hours. However, she did not come forward with a statement of her own at this time.

The reason that the teacher pleaded guilty was to take advantage of a deal with the court. If he had tried to fight the charges, the court would have tried to enforce three more counts for the same simple assault and an additional charge for sexual assault. Because of the guilty plea, those are all going to be dropped from the case, leaving just two charges.

As a result, the teacher will only have to go to the House of Corrections for 30 days, and 11 months are going to be deferred. After being released, he will have to serve some time on probation.

As you can see, a plea bargain can be a way to change a sentence in New Hampshire, no matter what type of charges have been leveled against you. Remember that not all criminal defense strategies have to be about beating the charges, as pleading guilty can, in some cases, turn out to be the best tactic that you can use.
