New Hampshire man facing drug charges

There has been a lot of talk in the media recently about synthetic marijuana, popularly referred to as "spice." Now, a resident of Hudson, New Hampshire, is facing felony drug charges for allegedly selling spice at his Pelham, New Hampshire, store. Many people believe that spice is a dangerous synthetic drug, and the substance has indeed been the favored topic of many media outlets in New Hampshire thanks to a health scare involving the "drug."

According to a member of the Pelham police, spice carries a high potential for abuse, and the effects of the synthetic drug can often be more severe than actual marijuana. The police officer added that spice consists of often unknown chemicals in many cases, but becomes an illegal drug after being sprayed with chemically-engineered cannabinoids.

As far as the recent arrest, investigators reportedly searched two locations, including the defendant's cigarette store before making an arrest on Aug. 15. The reports says that after an undercover investigator made several controlled purchases of the substance, the drug was sent for testing at the state lab. Reportedly, not all of the samples tested positive for spice, but enough did to warrant the arrest and the subsequent two felony counts of selling the substance. The defendant will appear in court on Sept. 22.

For many Americans, spice seems to reside in a self-perceived "gray area" between legal and illegal, but that won't make the man's charges go away. No matter what anyone says about spice, felony drug charges are a serious matter, and those charged can benefit from legal representation.
