A woman from Portsmouth, New Hampshire, could face harsh penalties for her alleged involvement in another individual's fatal drug overdose.
According to regional news outlet the Union Leader, 41-year-old Jennifer Landry has been indicted for selling heroin to 22-year-old Svetlana Filippenko, who died accidentally after injecting or ingesting the drug in November 2012. She was found deceased in her bedroom by a family member. The source states that, if convicted, the suspect could face life in prison for her crime.
Court records indicate that law enforcement officials reviewed text message conversations between the two women that they found on Landry's cell phone. In some of the messages, Landry warned Filippenko that the heroin she had sold her was particularly potent and told her to be careful.
"It's twice as strong as the stuff I gave u when u came over," Landry texted, according to Seacoastonline.com.
This isn't the first time Landry has been apprehended for drug-related crimes. The source reports that the suspect was already on probation for charges of selling heroin.
Landry is scheduled to be arraigned in Rockingham County Superior Court in late May, and is currently being held on $50,000 cash bail.
