Woman may need criminal defense for murder conspiracy charges

A tumultuous relationship and a series of questionable decisions has left a New Hampshire woman in need of legal counsel. The young woman is just 20 years of age, yet is facing serious criminal charges related to her connection with her boyfriend. She is charged with conspiracy to commit murder, as well as solicitation to contract for murder. As she moves forward with her criminal defense needs, she continues to interact with the man who is at the center of the alleged plot to kill another young woman.

The woman who is accused of these crimes was romantically involved with a man whom she claims assaulted her late last year. The couple share a child, and the woman is currently pregnant with their second child. The father is currently on probation for a separate domestic violence incident. The woman is residing at a shelter for battered women.

According to police, at some point after the couple broke up, the woman attempted to hire an undercover police officer to kill the man's new girlfriend. She allegedly offered him $500 in addition to a designer handbag. The officer stated that the woman told him that the new girlfriend had "ruined my life."

Initially held on bail, the woman was eventually released on her own recognizance. However, part of the conditions for release included refraining from all contact with her former boyfriend. According to prosecutors, she not only ignored that condition, but is now engaged to the man. They are asking that her bail be revoked, and that she be returned to jail to await further action on her felony charges.

This case underscores the importance of making wise decisions when faced with criminal charges. If the woman did violate the terms of her release by continuing to have contact with her boyfriend, the court may decide to revoke her bail. As she prepares a criminal defense strategy, the New Hampshire woman should focus her efforts on avoiding conviction, and not on continuing a relationship that appears to have caused a great deal of trouble, both personal and legal.
