According to police, a man in New Hampshire was allegedly drunk when he caused an accident that took another man's life. The man's daughter was also injured in the crash. After the wreck, the drunk driver fled the crash scene, but police were able to find him and take him into custody.
The accident happened right around 6:40 in the evening, on a sunny day, a witness said. That witness heard the injured daughter as she yelled for her father, who had been fatally injured and lay motionless on the ground. The two had been riding a motorcycle together when they collided with a car. The man was 59 years old, and his daughter is 28.
The crash was instigated when the drunk driver turned suddenly and sharply in front of the motorcycle. The witness said that there was nothing the man could have done to avoid the wreck. Those who saw also said that the driver sped off dangerously down the road, almost hitting some children who were riding their bicycles.
Emergency crews did come to the scene and found the man alive, and they rushed him to the Elliot Hospital, which is in Manchester. However, he passed away while he was there. His daughter, whose injuries have been said to be non-lift-threatening, was instead taken over to Parkland Medical Center, which is in Derry.
Reports show that the man and his daughter both had their helmets on.
Accidents happen very quickly, and it's important for those involved to know what legal rights and options they have, rather than making the situation worse. Everyone has a right to a fair trial.
