A woman from out of state has been taken into custody on drunk driving charges after she was involved in a traffic accident. The arrest occurred on a recent Sunday following the motor vehicle collision, which happened at approximately 11:44 a.m.
The collision took place in Hudson, New Hampshire. According to police, the 25-year-old driver crashed into another vehicle that had been stopped in traffic. The allegedly drunk driver had been operating a pickup truck at the time of the collision.
Fortunately for everyone that was involved in the crash, no one required hospital care, and no one was reported to be injured. However, upon arriving at the scene law enforcement officials suspected that the driver of the pickup truck was inebriated. Upon searching her vehicle, they discovered an open container of alcohol in the car. Authorities arrested the woman and charged her with an open container violation and aggravated DWI. Police set her cash bail at $140.
Depending on an individual's criminal background record and any prior DWI or drunk driving arrests or convictions in the past, the severity of a person's potential punishments could range from mild to severe in the event of a DUI conviction. However, one of the worst potential punishments following a DUI conviction are not the criminal consequences, but the professional, social and familial ones. For this reason, those accused of DUI may wish to aggressively defend themselves in court and attempt to get the charges dropped completely in order to clear their names and avoid having a conviction affect their careers or family life.
