New Hampshire residents have likely heard about the serious accident involving Tracy Morgan and other actors and comedians. The accident occurred on June 7 when a truck driver operating a Wal-Mart truck allegedly failed to reduce his speed when traffic in front of him on the road slowed.
According to investigators, the truck driver then had to swerve to avoid traffic, causing the truck to collide with the limo transporting Tracy Morgan and his friends. The car accident resulted in the death of one of the comedians and severe injuries to several others. Morgan himself was hospitalized and reports listed him as critical following the incident.
The limo flipped over as a result of the collision. Reports quote the limo driver as saying he was disoriented in the moments directly following the crash. He also said he could hear Tracy Morgan calling from the vehicle, but that he could not get to the injured individuals inside.
The truck driver turned himself in to authorities, accompanied by his lawyer. Bail was set for $50,000, which the man made. The man was released from jail the same night. According to reports, the man is on leave from Wal-Mart pending an investigation.
Authorities say the accident involves six cars total, though the only injuries were associated with the Morgan vehicle. Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board are working to determine whether there are any commercial safety issues related to the accident.
Drivers on any road in the United States want to know that those operating vehicles around them are following safety rules and working to ensure safety for everyone on the road. Accidents do happen, though, and people make mistakes. When another driver is responsible for an accident that causes severe injury or damage, a legal compensation claim may be the vehicle by which parties recover some of their losses.
