Deerfield man faces assault charges for allegedly attacking police officer

Sometimes a miscommunication can lead to severe legal consequences, leaving an individual in a precarious position. If you've been arrested for a crime that you are certain you didn't commit, it is imperative that you enlist the services of a New Hampshire lawyer who has the experience and skill set needed to ensure that your legal rights are protected.

According to regional news outlet the Union Leader, 40-year-old Deerfield, New Hampshire, resident Stanley West has been charged with simple assault of a police officer and resisting arrest following an incident that occurred on December 19, 2012. The source states that Roger St. Onge, a Deerfield police officer, showed up at West's residence "to investigate a 911 hang up call after a county dispatcher tried to return a call at the home and got no answer."

West reportedly refused to let the law enforcement official enter his house and proceeded to attack him, later claiming that he wasn't aware St. Onge was a police officer and thought he seemed suspicious.

"[The defendant's criminal defense lawyer] told jurors that West's actions were legally justified under the state's 'use of force' law, which allows a homeowner to protect himself when he believes he is being attacked," notes the news outlet.

If you've been accused of a crime in the Granite State, don't settle for mediocre legal representation. Instead, schedule a consultation with a New Hampshire lawyer who will listen to your side of the story and help you mount an effective defense. These experienced professionals can prove to be invaluable allies, advocating on your behalf throughout the entirety of the legal process.
