When you've been charged with a crime, sometimes it's in your best interest to enter a plea deal with prosecutors, as often this means you'll receive a less harsh sentence than if your case goes to trial. However, in these situations, it's essential to have a New Hampshire lawyer by your side who understands the complexities of the justice system and can ensure that you make the right decision.
According to the Union Leader, a New Hampshire news source, 22-year-old Julia Konchek was accused of stealing a woman's purse in a Portsmouth Market Basket on February 19, and pleaded guilty to a felony robbery charge. On June 11, she was sentenced to one to three years in prison. Konchek had an accomplice with her at the time of the incident -- 25-year-old Kyle Roy -- who is still awaiting his indictment.
CBS Boston reports that the pair entered the grocery store during the afternoon, and Konchek proceeded to attack a woman near the produce section. As the defendant fought the victim for her purse, Roy allegedly snatched her wallet from the floor.
"What made the crime different from the typical purse snatching is that it happened inside the store rather than in the parking lot," states the news outlet.
