Manchester teacher faces charges for allowing roommate to sell heroin from her apartment

A teacher from Manchester High School faces a felony charge of criminal liability for the sale of a narcotic as well as a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child in Circuit Court, Manchester District Division.

According to the Union Leader, a regional news source, 42-year-old Lisa Tagalakis allegedly rented out a room in her apartment to 26-year-old Robert Doane, knowing that Doane would be trafficking heroin while he was there. Money was tight for Tagalakis, say court documents, and she let Doane move in to bring in some extra money, charging him $100 a week to live there. Additionally, she said she wanted a babysitter for her preschool-aged children.

Court documents reveal that Doane kept a loaded gun in the house that would have been easy for Tagalakis' children to access. Police also found marijuana paraphernalia and evidence of suspected narcotics.

Doane has been charged with five felonies including possession of a narcotic drug, attempted sale of a narcotic drug, armed career criminal, receiving stolen property (gun) and convicted felon in possession of a dangerous weapon (gun), reports the Union Leader.

The court presented a recorded conversation in which Doane spoke with 21-year-old Kristopher White, Tagalakis' boyfriend, about what would happen if he was charged.

"Dude, I'm looking at 10-plus [years] with all this." Doane said. "I gotta get outta here. I gotta go somewhere. I'm ready to off myself."
