On Saturday, less than a week after a woman was injured when her ATV rolled over on a trail in Sandown, New Hampshire, a teenage girl riding one of the recreational vehicles was hurt when her machine crashed into a motorcycle.
The accident occurred at the Hinsdale Campground at Thicket Hill near the area's border with private property around 3 p.m. According to conservation officers with the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, the girl, a resident of Vermont, was heading east on the trail when Michael Binney hit her at an intersection while riding northbound on his motorcycle. Authorities said that the front wheel of Binney's bike caused the teenager's injuries to one of her legs.
Firefighters who responded to the accident transported the young woman to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital. Due to the seriousness of her wounds, she was later airlifted to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
Binney, who is 52 years old, did not sustain any injuries in the crash and refused medical treatment at the scene.
Authorities did not disclose the minor's name, nor have any updates been provided on her condition.
The accident is still under investigation by the Fish and Game authorities, and according to the Bennington Banner, a Vermont newspaper, officials are awaiting the results of blood tests to determine whether either party was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
